God's Point of View...
Scripture is filled with messages from God imploring believers to have faith enough in Him to see things from His “Point of View”. To have empathy when we assess the human condition, and compassion in situations of human suffering.
Romans12:1-3(KJV)
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
Paul is advocating new way of thinking which allows God to transform us from our old ways of thinking into a new way. His approach to this re-thinking starts with a fundamental understanding and appreciation for the essential differences in the Grace and Law.
The lack of appreciation for these differences as subtle as they may appear can end as a huge stumbling block to the inexperienced in the word. These are crucial factors in the application of each discipline.
Reading the word without contextualizing what is being read has resulted in a lot of misinterpretation and fallacy. We are therefore admonished to study the scripture rather than just reading…
2 Timothy 2:15(KJV)
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that need not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
We spend so much time judging ourselves and others in accordance to the Law, that it leaves little time for living in the glorious grace of God.
The Law was impossible to be kept by imperfect humans. So why do we spend so much time minimizing the sacrifice of Christ and exalting our own works? Yes the Law is holy but it has been fulfilled by Christ. Therefore, we look to His as the author and finisher and faith. Hebrews 12:2.
It should be noted that in making an effective case for God’s Covenant of Grace, we should be able to make an effective case for His Covenant of Law.
This requires the consideration and eradication of sin from God's point of view and not our own. This new way of thinking is introduced by Jesus in Matthew chapter 5 starting with His sermon on the mount. "The Beatitudes"
A fault dwelt in the Covenant of Law. Therefore, righteousness with God could not be gained through the Law. It is holy but by necessity unforgiving. It will expand itself, beyond its precepts, to thoughts of grace and forgiveness.
The Covenant of Law will only express itself in judgement and retribution. Hence, Paul's expressions of agony in Romans Chapter 7.
This necessitated a second and far better covenant. It is in and through this new covenant that we believers are justified before God by faith in Christ, not by works of the law.
Hebrews 8:6-7 (NLT)
6 But now Jesus, our High Priest, has been given a ministry that is far superior to the old priesthood, for he is the one who mediates for us a far better covenant with God, based on better promises. 7 If the first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no need for a second covenant to replace it.
In the light of His glorious sacrifice and suffering, let us remember to deal with ourselves and with others in a spirit of grace!
Hebrews 4:15-16 (KJV)
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
